Titans Finalize 2018-19 Roster

DETROIT (9/26/2018) -- The rebuilding of the Titan program will feature a 17-man roster in 2018-19 as University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball head coach Mike Davis announced this year's roster. 

"I think we have some good players who want to work," said Davis. "I am excited to get these guys together on the court and to see their overall effort. I am looking forward to working with everybody and seeing how quickly we can get everyone to understand the effort it is going to take to become a good basketball team."

Chris Brandon – Fr. – F/G – 6-7 – 200 – Houston, Tex. / Bellaire
  • Tabbed First Team All-District in 2016, 2017 and 2018
  • Averaged 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game
  • Holds career highs in a game with 27 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks
  • Helped his team to a top-five ranking in the state in the last two years
  • Played AAU with the Durham Hurricanes, Team Loaded and Texas Pro
  • Nephew of former NBA player and head coach John Lucas and cousins to former NBA player John Lucas and former Texas standout Jai Lucas

Jordan Gorman – So. – G – 5-9 – 155 – Fort Wayne, Ind. / Nelson Snider (Wright State Lake Campus)
  • Started all 33 games last season at Wright State Lake and averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game
  • Shot 34.7 percent from the field with 65 triples and connected on 83.6 percent at the free throw line
  • Second in the conference in steals (79) and third in assists (164)
  • Was in double figures in 24 games, including four 20+ point performances with a season-high 26 at Grace Bible College
  • Recorded a triple-double with 11 points and season highs of 11 assists and 10 rebounds against Ohio State Lima
  • In high school, he was a two-time All-SAC honoree in basketball and football and was tabbed the team MVP as a senior

Lamar Hamrick – Jr. – G – 6-4 – 190 – New Castle, Del. / St. Georges Technical (San Jacinto College)
  • Earned Second-Team All-Region XIV honors as a sophomore at San Jacinto College after averaging 11.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game
  • Started 26 of 29 games last season and shot 46.4 percent from the field
  • Averaged 7.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game and shot 50.9 percent as a freshman
  • Scored in double figures in 20 career games in his two years
  • In high school, he led St. Georges Technical to its first state championship game as a sophomore

Derrien King – Gr. – G/F – 6-7 – 180 – Wichita, Kan. / Cathedral (Angelo State)
  • Enrolled at Angelo State in 2017-18 but did not play
  • Played all of his sophomore year and nine games as a junior at Washington State before transferring
  • In 2016-17, he played in nine games with five starts and averaged 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 76.9 percent from the free throw line
  • As a sophomore, he saw action in 26 games and averaged 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game
  • Started his collegiate career at Santa Monica College and was named the second best junior college player in California by 247Sports after he tallied 11.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the free throw line
  • In high school, he was tabbed First Team All-League and Second Team All-CIF after averaging 23.6 points per game


Juan Parrilla Jr. – Jr. – G – 6-0 – 180 – Waterbury, Conn. / Crosby (College of the Siskiyous)

  • As a sophomore at the College of the Siskiyous, he tallied 10.9 points, 3.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds, and shot over 40.0 percent from behind the arc
  • Scored in double figures 15 times with three 20+ point games and a season-high 21 against Porterville
  • Played his freshman year at Panola College
  • In high school, he helped Crosby High School to a 2011 CSC championship and back-to-back Naugatuck Valley league titles in 2013 and 2014

Darrell Riley Jr. – Jr. – G – 5-9 – 160 – Milwaukee, Wis. / North Division (Williston State College)
  • Played last season at Williston State College and started 28 of the 30 games he appeared in averaging 15.4 points, 5.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 41.6 percent from the field
  • Scored in double figures in 24 of 30 games with ten 20+ point contests and a season-high 28 points against Northwest College
  • Earned Mon-Dak Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete honors during the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Started his collegiate career at Mississippi Valley State University where he redshirted as a freshman and saw action in 25 games in 2016-17, averaging 9.0 points, 2.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game
  • Was in double figures in scoring on 13 occasions, headlined by a season-high 19 points against Southern and 18 points at Iowa State
  • In high school, he tallied 37.6 points per game as a senior with a total of Wisconsin-state best 939 points on the year, the sixth-best single-season total in state history
  • Tabbed the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's All-City Player of the Year, Milwaukee City Conference's Player of the Year and an All-State selection

Davis' first recruiting class finishes with 13 student-athletes with five true freshmen, six junior college transfers and two graduate transfers. Four of the 13 recruits are preferred walk-ons in Antoine Davis – the son of coach Davis – Gorman, Parrilla and Riley Jr.
