DETROIT (8/5/2018) -- The 2018 women's soccer season is just less than two weeks away and on Sunday, the University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team won its opening exhibition, 2-0, over the Markham Soccer Club of Canada. 
The win capped a productive opening week of practice for the Titans, who have been training hard with two-a-days since they reported back to campus last Tuesday.
Detroit Mercy will have another exhibition on Wednesday, Aug. 8, when the red, white and blue travel to Bowling Green for its final preseason competition.
Over 15 letter winners are set to return to the program, including two of the top three scorers in sophomores 
Kelli Doyle and 
Rachel Russo, senior midfielders 
Caitlin Carroll and 
Molly Kane and senior goalkeeper 
Marina Manzo. 
The regular season will begin on Aug. 17 when Detroit Mercy visits Western Michigan.
