Women's Basketball Field Trip Day Announced for Nov. 29

DETROIT (10/3/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team is set to host its fourth annual Field Trip Day on Thursday, Nov. 29, from historic Calihan Hall. Opening tip is set for 11 a.m. with doors opening the day of the game at 9:30 a.m.

Detroit Mercy has increased its attendance in all three previous Field Trip Day games, including hosting 4,127 fans in last year's game, which was the third-largest attendance for a Titan women's basketball game in school history. More than 35 schools were in attendance for the 2017 game.

Admission into the game is FREE. Interested schools and grades that would like to attend are being asked to RSVP by Tuesday, Nov. 20, a little more than a week prior to the game.

The game is also Detroit Public Schools (DPS) certified. Free bus parking and accommodations will be provided in the parking lot outside of Calihan Hall. A school band will play at halftime and an educational speaker will be part of the day prior to the game. Informational packets will be delivered following each school's RSVP outlining event details, seating location, campus map, parking instructions and student worksheets.

Detroit Mercy hosted its inaugural Field Trip Day during head coach Bernard Scott's first season in 2015-16.

Parking
Free bus parking and accommodations will be provided just north of Calihan Hall outside of the main entrance as well as in other areas of campus. Schools and classes are being asked to arrive between 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., for the 11 a.m. game time. The arrival time can be earlier by request.

Logistics
Each school and classes will be designated to a certain area in the stands at Calihan Hall. Upon arrival, an usher will take each school or class to its seats. All schools and classes must be accompanied by a chaperone. There will be no tickets handed out, but each school or class will a labeled section to sit in. Please RSVP with how many students you plan on bringing to the game.
