First Practice In The Books For Men’s Basketball

DETROIT (9/28/2018) -- The official start of practice began on Thursday, Sept. 27, as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team hit the hardwood in preparation for the upcoming season.

The Titans will have 30 official practices prior to their season opener on Nov. 6 at Western Michigan. Along with those practices, Detroit Mercy will host Wayne State on Nov. 3 in an exhibition charity game to help raise funds for Detroit Public Schools, grades K-5.

Detroit Mercy went right at it in the afternoon on Dick Vitale Court at Calihan Hall going through basketball drills first before team activities.

"It is all about creating great habits and sometimes if you over look things, the little things become big so we want to focus on all the little things," said head coach Mike Davis

Detroit Mercy will feature a 17-man roster in 2018-19 and 13 of those are newcomers so along with learning a new coaching staff, everyone will have to also get used to playing with a lot of new people.

"The thing that jumps out to me is how much we like each other and pull for each other," added coach Davis.
