Titans Upended In Double Overtime At NKU

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (9/30/2018) -- Freshman Julie Ann Piechocki scored her team-high fourth goal and sophomore Olivia Parra netted her first collegiate marker, but NKU was able to get the golden goal in double overtime as the University of Detroit Mercy fell on the road, 3-2, on Sunday night.

Detroit Mercy (3-6-3, 0-3-1 HL) played catch up twice in the game as Piechocki tied it at 1-1 in the 38th minute and Parra knotted it at 2-2 at 76:19. Both of the goals were assisted by sophomore Rachel Russo, the first two helpers of her career, while Piechocki was also credited with an assist on Parra's goal starting the play on the free kick.

NKU (7-3-1, 3-0-1 HL) was able to earn the win in the 104th minute as the Norse got the ball in the box and then found the back of the net.

Senior Marina Manzo made three saves on the night.

The Titans will now get ready for a big battle with first place Milwaukee on Saturday, Oct. 6, as the red, white and blue host a soccer doubleheader with the men facing Green Bay at 1 p.m. and the women's game to follow at 4 p.m.
