Women's Basketball Welcomes Rowe, Turner as Graduate Assistants

DETROIT (9/7/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball program and head coach Bernard Scott has announced the addition of two new graduate assistants in local products and college basketball standouts Brianna Rowe and Da'Jourie Turner.

"I'm excited about having Brianna and Da'Jourie join our program," coach Scott said. "They have both proven to be hard workers and self-motivators. Those are key factors I look for when hiring my graduate assistants. They have also been part of winning programs during their college careers and we want to make sure we bring in people that know how to win and think like winners!"

Rowe was a four-year standout at nearby Concordia Ann Arbor after playing high school basketball at Birmingham Groves High School. Rowe broke school records in career 3-pointers made (295) as well as single-season triples (91) at Concordia. She sank 180 treys in her final two seasons and helped lead the Cardinals to the title game of the NCCAA National Championship. She graduated from Concordia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports and Entertainment Business.

Turner, an All-State high school player at Warren Fitzgerald, played four years of collegiate basketball at Central Michigan University, winning the MAC Tournament Championship during her freshman season in 2012-13. As a senior captain in 2015-16, Turner helped lead the Chippewas to the MAC title game. She led CMU in assists during her final two seasons, including dishing out 122 as a senior.

Turner was an assistant basketball coach at East English Village Prep Academy in Detroit from 2016 through 2018, mentoring and supervising the student-athletes during practice, games and off the court. She graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in May 2016.

The Titans are busy preparing for the upcoming 2018-19 season and have released their non-conference schedule. Stay tuned for the full schedule with the Horizon League releasing the full women's basketball league slate next weekend.
