CHICAGO, Ill. (1/12/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team is back in action in Chicago on Sunday, visiting Horizon League foe UIC for a 1 p.m. ET contest and 12 p.m. local time game. The game may be seen live via ESPN-Plus for a monthly subscription fee.
The Titans are looking for their first Horizon League win of the 2018-19 season, while UIC is coming off its first league win on Friday, defeating Oakland in overtime.

Scouting UIC
UIC earned its first Horizon League victory of the 2018-19 season on Friday, picking up a 69-65 overtime victory over Oakland at home. Three Flames were in double figures, led by Kiarra Thompson's 17 points. Jada Nneji added 15 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks. Overall on the season, UIC is 3-13 and 1-4 in Horizon League in head coach Tasha Pointer's first season at the helm.
Guard Brittany Byrd leads the Flames and ranks third in the Horizon League in scoring at 15.7 points per game. Byrd also leads the team in reboudning, grabbing 6.4 per game. Nneji, a sophomore, leads the Horizon League with 37 blocks, tallying 2.3 swats per contest. As a squad, UIC is just ahead of the Titans in steals per game at 8.9, while the Flames also rank third in blocks, averaging 3.9 per contest.
All-Time Series
The Titans hold a 29-24 series advantage all-time over UIC, which includes a 10-12 mark in road games. The Titans won both meetings against the Flames last season, including winning at UIC. The Titans earned a thrilling 61-58 victory over the Flames on Jan. 13, exactly one year ago from Sunday's game.
