McFolley, Davis Net Horizon League Honors

INDIANAPOLIS (1/14/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy is in first place in the Horizon League after a weekend sweep and the conference honored a pair of Titans as senior Josh McFolley was named the Player of the Week and Antoine Davis was tabbed the Freshman of the Week on Monday.

It is the first time in McFolley's career that he has earned the HL Player of the Week, while Davis earns his sixth Freshman of the Week accolade. Davis also received the National High Major Player of the Week from College Sports Madness.

McFolley was a big part of the weekend sweep that propelled the Titans to 5-1 in the Horizon League and into first place as he averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 steals, 3.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds, while shooting 60.0 percent overall and 62.5 percent from three. He posted a season-high 29 points hitting 10-of-16 from the field with six 3-pointers as well as coming away with a season-high five steals in the victory over Green Bay. He came back with 18 points, nailing four more triples with four assists and two steals in the victory over Milwaukee.

He is now fourth in school history with 185 career steals, just 10 shy of the school record, and he is also 22nd in school history with 1,272 career points.

Davis had himself another great week tallying 30.5 points, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals, while shooting 52.8 percent from the field, 47.4 percent from three and 82.4 percent at the line in the two Titan wins. He started the week with 29 points to help Detroit Mercy take down first-place Green Bay and then posted his eighth, 30th-point game of the year with 32 points and tying his season high with seven assists in the win over Milwaukee.

He is still second in the nation in scoring at 27.7 ppg. and leads the nation with 90, 3-pointers as he is now fourth in school history and still chasing Stephen Curry's NCAA freshman record of 122. He also leads the nation in total points at 498, breaking the Titan freshman mark for points in a season of 446 by Ray McCallum in 2010-11.

Detroit Mercy will be back in action this Saturday when the Titans host #MetroSeries-rival Oakland at 2 p.m. in Calihan Hall. Tickets start at just $10 and can be purchased online at DetroitTitans.com/tix.
