DETROIT (1/19/219) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team is heading home from Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a trophy to their name, claiming gold at the Mastodon Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans score of 40 points was enough to knock off the rest of the field, consisting of Wabash, Huntington, Evansville, IUPUI and Northern Kentucky.
Director of Track and Field and Cross Country 89' Guy Murray said, "It's always great to get a win. We have a good young core group and do well to cover all events. This is a team with great potential moving forward."
HIGHLIGHT OF THE MEET:
Jacob Spiaser set a school record in the pole vault with his mark of 4.26m/13-11.25.
Eric Leduc,
Ryan Schwab and
Daniel Lanfear all turned in first place efforts in their respective events and helped propel the Titans to victory.
