Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Titans Drop Saturday Contest To UIC

DETROIT (10/12/2019) - The University of Detroit Mercy Women's Soccer hosted a conference game against the UIC Flames on a chilly October Saturday afternoon and despite five saves by sophomore Cece Muskovac, it was just not enough for the Titans to steal the game back from UIC as they fell 1-0.

In the first half, the Titans (2-9-2, 0-4-1 HL) looked to get themselves on the board early with two corner kicks but neither of those attempts followed through as they were deflected by the UIC (7-5-1, 3-2-0 HL) goalkeeper. Freshman Stephanie Maniaci and junior Rachel Russo both had a pair of shots that looked good but were just short of a Titan goal.

Muskovac came up with an outstanding save in the 71st minute keeping the Flames from adding another marker to the board and the last look for the Titans came on a shot by junior Olivia Elby that was on net and saved.

The Flames were able to counter the Titan attempts and close the game with a 1-0 score early in the first half. The Titans were able to keep UIC from adding any points to the board throughout the rest of the game.
