Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Titans Tamed By Tigers

CLEMSON, S.C. (11/17/2019) -- Senior Justin Miller tallied a double-double, sophomore Chris Brandon nearly had one and sophomore Antoine Davis posted another 20-point game as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team saw Clemson go on a second-half run to down the Titans, 87-65, on Sunday afternoon.

Davis posted a game-high 26 points and six assists to go with a career-high four steals and three rebounds. Miller ended with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Brandon had 12 points and eight boards.

The Titans trailed just 58-52 with 9:37 left when Clemson went on a 15-4 run over the next three minutes to take control of the contest.

Detroit Mercy (0-2) had a 9-8 lead on a 5-0 run by Miller as he hit two free throws and then buried a three with 13 minutes left in the first. Clemson (3-1) would recover with eight-straight points to take the lead.

The Titans would fight back to within three, 22-19, as Davis hit a triple at 7:01, but the Tigers slowly built up a double-digit lead. In the second half, the Titans trailed by 13, 50-37, with 16:26 left when Brandon had a layup off an offensive rebound and Miller got inside for two to make it 50-41.

Later on, Clemson led by 11, 58-47, when Miller got inside again for a basket and, off a steal by Davis, he found freshman Sam Hofman and the Belgium product connected on a three for his first collegiate basket to pull the squad within six, 58-52, with 9:37 on the clock. That was as close as the red, white and blue would get.

The Titans led in rebounding for much of the contest, but lost by just one on the boards, 39-38, while forcing 14 turnovers and coming away with nine steals.
