Men's Soccer Visits Cleveland State in Pivotal Regular-Season Finale

DETROIT (11/6/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team closes out the 2019 regular season Friday evening, playing in a pivotal Horizon League match against host Cleveland State from Krenzler Field in Cleveland, Ohio. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET and is slated to be streamed live on ESPN-Plus.

The Titans (6-10-1, 3-3-1 HL) are currently in fourth place in the Horizon League standings entering the final night of regular-season play in the conference. With a win or a tie, Detroit Mercy would clinch a spot in the upcoming 2019 Horizon League Championship. The red, white and blue would host a postseason match with a victory over the Vikings on Friday, earning the No. 3 seed. The Titans can also clinch a tournament spot with a Wright State loss to IUPUI or a Milwaukee tie or loss to UIC. The Flames have secured the top seed in the postseason as the HL regular-season champions and are set to host the semifinals and championship match in Chicago.

Detroit Mercy is 3-1-1 in its past five Horizon League matches, earning shutout victories over Northern Kentucky (2-0), Green Bay (2-0) and IUPUI (1-0), while also tying Oakland (1-1). The Titans are 17-11-3 in 31 meetings all-time against the Vikings.
