Sophia DiMilia (New Boston, Mich.) has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, it was announced on Monday by the league office. DiMilia led the Titans in scoring in both games last week.
DiMilia averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks across two games last week, which included a career-high 21-point performance in a 62-45 victory over UIC on Thursday from Calihan Hall. DiMilia sank four 3-pointers against the Flames, scoring 20-plus points for the second-straight contest.
DiMilia added five rebounds, a career-best three assists and three steals against UIC, going 7-of-16 from the floor and sinking four triples. She also was 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Against IUPUI in Saturday's setback, DiMilia tallied team-highs with nine points, six rebounds and two blocks, knocking down another 3-pointer.
On the season, DiMilia ranks fourth on the Titans in scoring at 5.7 points per game. She has led Detroit Mercy in scoring in each of the past four games, averaging 14.5 points per game across that stretch. She also has 11 3-pointers and eight steals in the past four outings. DiMilia has started the past three games for the Titans.
The Titans return to the road for their final regular-season road trip, visiting Milwaukee for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off Thursday before heading to Green Bay for a 2 p.m. ET Saturday match-up with Green Bay. Detroit Mercy has four regular season games remaining, also hosting Wright State and Northern Kentucky during the final weekend of the regular season.
