GREEN BAY, Wis. (2/23/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team dropped its final regular-season road game of the 2018-19 campaign, falling to host Green Bay by a 82-37 margin from the Kress Events Center on Saturday. Detroit Mercy returns home for the final two home games next weekend.

Freshman guard Jess Bicknell and senior guard Brittney Jackson led the Titans with eight points each in the contest, while freshmen guard Jiera Shears added seven points and freshman forward Alex Burr had six. Senior guard Lola Ristovski added three assists for Detroit Mercy. Junior Zoey Oatis had two steals.

The Titans opened the game strong, with Bellman hitting the first bucket -- a 3-pointer -- and Detroit Mercy leading 7-4 early in the contest after additional buckets from Bicknell and Burr. Green Bay, currently in second place in the league standings, would then hit back-to-back 3-pointers, however, to take the lead. Shears connected on a corner triple after an Oatis steal later in the first, but the Phoenix led after one, 15-10.

Green Bay would use a quick run to open the second quarter to open a double-digit lead. Bicknell and Burr each sank free throws in a 22 second stretch midway through the frame and Bicknell sank a jumper off an in-bounds play in the final 10 seconds of the half as the Titans trailed at the halftime break, 35-18.

The Phoenix would open the second half on a run to take command of the contest. Jackson scored six of her eight points in the second half, hitting a pair of 3-pointers.

Detroit Mercy shot 27.1 percent (13-for-48) in the game, while Green Bay was 30-for-59 on field goal attempts (50.8 percent) in the game. Detroit Mercy had eight assists in the contest and added four 3-pointers -- two by Jackson in the second half. The Phoenix had the advantage in rebounding, 49-20.

Green Bay was led by four players in double figures, including junior forward Mackenzie Wolf who had a game-high 15 points off the bench.

It was the 59th meeting between the two programs in women's basketball. The Phoenix are a half-game out of first place in the Horizon League regular-season standings.
