DETROIT (3/14/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team closes out its two-game homestand Saturday, hosting newcomer Kent State to Titan Field for a 1 p.m. ET contest. Admission into the game is free and the non-conference tilt is also slated to be seen live via ESPN-Plus.
Prior to the game, the Titans will unveil their 2018 Southern Conference regular-season co-championship banner. Detroit Mercy opened its homestand with a 9-8 overtime setback to American University on Wednesday. The Titans (1-5) rallied from three goals down to push the game to overtime, but fell 5:22 into the extra session.

Titan News & Notes
• Detroit Mercy is playing in its third home game of the season; The Titans are 1-1 at home so far this season.
• Senior
Lexie Kinmond has a team-high 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists), notching at least three points in five of six games this season and a season-high seven at Duquesne.
• Kinmond was named the
SoCon Offensive Athlete of the Month for February after leading the conference in points (15) during the month. She also became the first Titan in school history to surpass 100 career assists (101) with her four assists against Duquesne in the Titans' last game.

Wandelt became the all-time leader in draw controls in Titan history in the season opener at Ohio State, recording six to surpass former Titan standout Anna
Eidem.
Wandelt has a team-high 42 DC in six games (7.0 per game), including three games of nine or more draw controls. She tied the single-game school record with 10 DC at Duquesne.
• Senior GK
Allison McDonough became the second player in school history with 500 career saves after turning away nine shots at Marquette. She has 539 career saves and has turned away 27 shots total in the Titans' last two games. She has started all 61 games in her Titan career and ranks fourth in school history with 174 ground balls.
• Wandelt ranks fifth in the country in ground balls per game (4.0) and 10th in draw controls per game (7.0). McDonough ranks ninth in the NCAA In GB per game (3.67).
• Harder has scored in each of her first six games, including scoring on her first collegiate shot in the opener at Ohio State on Feb. 10; Harder ranks second on the team with 17 draw controls.
• Wandelt is the Titan leader in ground balls (24), draw controls (42) and caused turnovers (11) on the season, ranking second on the squad with 16 points.
• Kinmond leads the team with 12 goals, while senior Morgan
Girardi (11 goals), Wandelt (10 goals) and Harder (10 goals) are all in double figures so far in 2019.
• Three current Titans have surpassed 100 career goals --
Wandelt (148 goals),
Girardi (130) and
Kinmond (125). All three are in the top-five in school history in goals.
Kinmond also became the third player in school history last season to reach 200 career points (currently has 226 points) and is the school record holder in career assists (101).

Wandelt and Harder (17 draw controls) have combined for 59 of the 76 draw controls on the season, with Detroit Mercy tallying 11 or more in four of six games.
• As a team, Detroit Mercy had 21 draw controls in the win over Butler, which was tied for the fourth-most in single-game school history.
• Detroit Mercy is in its
11th season as a program; The Titans earned a share of the Southern Conference regular-season title last season, going 4-1 in league play.
• The Titans have more than 10 victories in three of the past four seasons; The Titans went 10-8 last year and had a school-record 12 triumphs in 2016.
• Head coach
Megan Callahan '13 is in her first season at the helm of the Titans; She played for the squad from 2010-13 and was the assistant coach in each of the past two seasons.
• Callahan earned her first victory as head coach on Feb. 19 in a 17-13 victory over Butler in the Titans' home opener.
Last Time Out
The Titans rallied from three goals down in the second half to push its home game with American University on Wednesday into overtime. Detroit Mercy trailed 7-4 early in the second half and then 8-6 with 20 minutes remaining. Sophomore attacker
Kamryn Corraro scored the final two goals of regulation, including the game-tying goal with 3:41 left in the second half. The Detroit Mercy defense was stout in the final 20 minutes, not allowing an American goal and making several important saves in key moments. The Eagles (5-3) scored 5:22 into overtime to win the non-league contest.

Scouting Kent State
The Golden Flashes are in their first season of Division I women's lacrosse and are 0-6 in the first six games on the 2019 season. Kent State fell at Cincinnati, 19-8, in its first contest ever as a program on Feb. 10. KSU also played another Titan common opponent in Butler earlier this season, falling by a 13-10 margin in Indianapolis on Feb. 22. Kent State is 0-4 on the road this season, also dropping games against nationally-ranked foes in Notre Dame and Michigan. It's the first game for KSU since March 8, when the Golden Flashes were on the wrong side of a 17-2 game against Michigan.
Brianne Tierney was tabbed as the new leader of the program and is a former player for both Loyola (Md.) and Colgate. Tierney has also started a women's lacrosse program at Division III's Lebanon Valley College and has also served as an assistant coach at Lafayette College (Division I). Freshman Abby Jones leads the Golden Flashes in points through six games with 13 (eight goals, five assists) and scored the program's first goal against the Bearcats on Feb. 10. Freshman Lluna Katz adds a team-best 10 goals. In net, freshman keeper Grace Merrill has a 42.4 save percentage and 70 saves, ranking seventh in the country in saves per game (11.67).
Milestone Watch
• Senior attacker
Lexie Kinmond has 226 points (125 goals, 101 assists) and is 46 points off the all-time mark, held by Emily Boissonneault (272 career points). She is eight points behind Anna Eidem (234 career points) for second place.
Kinmond became the first Titan in school history to reach 100 career assists, tallying four against Duquesne on March 3. Kinmond ranks second in points per game in school history (3.83) and first all-time in assists per game (1.71).
• Junior
Kaitlyn Wandelt moved into fourth place earlier this season in career points (186) and would became just the fourth player in school history to reach 200 career points with 15 more. Wandelt has 147 goals and 39 assists in 49 career games and ranks third all-time in school history in points per game (3.80), ranking third only behind former Titan standout Emily
Boissonneault (3.94 points per game) and Kinmond (3.83). Wandelt already owns the career draw controls record in school history in the season opener at Ohio State and has 199 DC in her career.
• Senior goalkeeper

She is second all-time in school history with her 539 career stops and ranks fourth in career ground balls (174). McDonough is also third in ground balls per game (2.85) in school history. She ranks No. 2 among active NCAA Division I players in ground balls and seventh in saves per game (8.9) among active D1 goalkeepers.

The Titans return to the road next weekend on Saturday, March 23, visiting Saint Francis in Loretto, Pa. It's the start of a stretch where Detroit Mercy plays five-straight away from Titan Field and Detroit.
