Ashley Mauser picked up her first win in conference play while tossing six innings and surrendering only three earned runs.
On the day, eight Titans had hits, including
Jen Lorenz with three and
Ellie Boteler with two hits and one RBI.
DETROIT MERCY 4 – WRIGHT STATE 3
Courtney Gilbert led off the game with a triple to right field. Boteler then drew a walk before
Maggie Hampton came in as a pinch runner.
Gilbert scored and Hampton advanced to second on a wild pitch, making the score 1-0 with a runner at second.
McKenna Tanguay grounded out to third base, allowing Hampton to advance, and
Kori Keyes singled to right field, driving Hampton home and doubling the lead to 2-0.
Wright State put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first to take the lead 3-2.
Lorenz led off the top of the fourth with a single to left field, followed by an error from the shortstop, allowing her to advance to second and Gilbert to reach first base safely.
That was followed up by a single to first base from
Jordan Manno, loading the bases with only one out.
Boteler drove Lorenz home with a single to left field, leveling the score at 3-3.
In the top of the fifth inning, Emily Wagnebrenner led off the action with a walk and advanced to second base on a fielder's choice.
Lorenz came up with another clutch hit, singling into left center and placing runners on the corners with only one out.
Wagenbrenner came home to score on an error from the Raiders second baseman, making the score 4-3 in favor of the Titans.
Mauser settled in quite nicely after the first inning, going six innings while scattering seven hits, three earned runs, three walks and 10 strikeouts, her third double digit strikeout effort of the season.
In the seventh inning,
Liz Murphy came in to secure the save for the Titans. She took care of business and recorded her third save of the season, a Horizon League high, retiring three of the four batters she faced.

The Titans are back in action from Dayton, Ohio tomorrow where they will face off against Wright State in a doubleheader. Games are slated for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
