The red, white and blue started things quickly with a walk from Gilbert, followed by a single up the middle from Manno.
After a pop out,
Kori Keyes scorched a ball to the pitcher, who was able to knock the ball down, but was unable to record an out, loading the bases with only one out.
Tanguay drew a walk with the bases loaded, making the score 1-0, followed by a sac fly to center field from
Alyssa Lang, doubling the lead to 2-0.
With a base open courtesy of the sac fly, Tanguay took second, allowing Keyes to come home and score on the throw, bringing the score up to 3-0.
A hard hit single to right field from
Leena Mortensen brought Tanguay home and made the score 4-0.
The Golden Grizzlies threatened in the top of the fourth, leading off the inning with back-to-back singles.
Ashley Mauser then struck out the next batter swinging, followed by a fielder's choice, forcing the runner out at second base.
With runners on the corners, Mauser struck out the next batter swinging, preventing any damage and keeping the score 4-0.
Gilbert led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, and a throwing error from Oakland's pitcher on a bunt from Manno allowed both runners to advance an extra base, putting runners on second and third with no outs.
Ellie Boteler hit a sac fly to center field, bringing Gibert home, and in the process, a loose ball allowed Manno to come home and score as well.
With a 6-0 lead, Mauser headed back out to the mound to try and secure the win. In the top of the sixth, a quick ground out put one out on the board.
However, the ground out was followed by a walk and back-to-back singles, loading the bases with only one out.
Mauser kept her composure, struck out the next two batters swinging and kept a zero on the scoreboard for the Golden Grizzlies.
With a 6-0 lead, Lang and
Emily Wagenbrenner drew two walks, followed by a bunt single from
Taylor Gauthier, loading the bases with only one out.
A single to left field from Manno brought Lang and Wagenbrenner home, making the score 8-0 and concluding the day's action via the eight runs after six innings mercy rule.
Mauser tossed a complete game shutout, scattering five hits, three walks and 11 strikeouts. It was her fifth double digit strikeout effort of the season.
