Davis Ends The Year Third In The Nation In Scoring

INDIANAPOLIS (4/15/2019) -- The end of the college basketball season means the final statistical information of the 2018-19 season was finalized as the University of Detroit Mercy freshman guard Antoine Davis was third in the nation in scoring.

Davis concluded his rookie season leading the Horizon League in offense at 26.1 points per game, just the fifth Titan to lead the league in scoring and the first freshman in conference history to accomplish that feat. 

He was also top 10 in the country in 3-pointers per game (4.40-second), total 3-pointers (132-fifth), field goals (263-12th) and total points (784-10th), all Horizon League highs. 

His 784 points on the year was second in school history, a HL freshman record and the fourth-most in league history and his 132, 3-pointers set a new NCAA record for a freshman and were also the fifth most in the Horizon League record book. 

Davis was also second in the Horizon League and 41st in the nation hitting 85.7 percent at the free throw line, led the conference and was 13th in the nation in minutes played at 37:22 and was 12th with a 1.1 assist-turnover ratio. 

In single game highs, his 48 points against Wright State was tied for the fifth most by a player in NCAA Division I, while the 10 triples in the game was tied for the sixth most in the country and his 15 field goals was tied for 18th and all three stats were tops in the conference. 

In Horizon League play, he was eighth in assists at 3.6 per game and his 107 assists on the season was the most by a Titan since the 2012-13 campaign.

Senior Josh McFolley finished second in the HL and 79th in the country with 1.77 steals per game and his 55 total steals were also second in the league and 99th in the nation. He ended his final campaign tied for 17th in the HL in scoring at 13.5 points, tied for 12th with 2.1, 3-pointers per game and eighth playing 33.4 minutes per contest.  

Senior Gerald Blackshear Jr. was fifth in the conference in offensive rebounds per game at 2.2 per game and 18th in total rebounding at 5.0 a night.

Junior Lamar Hamrick was also in the league stats tying for 12th with 1.2 steals per game.
