ROCHESTER, MI (4/6/19) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team competed in the annual Dual vs. Oakland on Saturday.
The Titans claimed first place in eight events, with seven Titans claiming first place finishes, but the men fell by an overall score of 97 to 85.
Jacob Spiaser set a meet record in the pole vault with his height of 4.25m/13'11.25", and
Dash Dobar set a PR in the 800m with his mark of 1:55.38.
The scoring format was a scored dual- 5-3-2-1 two per team; relays 5-3.
There was a Grizz vs. Tommy Titan 100m kids race, where kids were able to take on the mascot from each school in the annual kids race, and an open mile was scheduled for 5:45 p.m., which featured a number of alumni from each school.
Lastly, there was a senior day/parent presentation, where the Detroit Mercy seniors were honored for all of their hard work and dedication to the Titan program over the last four years.
When asked about the meet, Director of Track and Field + Cross Country '89 Guy Murray said, "It was a great day of track & field. We had some good performances, competed to win, and it is always good to get back to the basics of the sport with the dual meet."
