DETROIT (8/22/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team didn't let a 2-0 first-half deficit get it down as the Titans stormed back with two second-half markers to record a 2-2 draw with Northwood in the season opener on Thursday.
Northwood scored a goal in the 10th and 40th minute for a 2-0 lead at the break, but then the Detroit Mercy defense dented the scoreboard as junior
Olivia Parra found the back of the net in the 61st minute and sophomore
Hailey Wentzloff knocked in a goal in her Titan debut to knot it at 2-2 in the 78th minute.
The Titans outshot Northwood, 20-7, and had a sizable 12-0 margin on corner kicks, but the Timberwolves' goalies combined for 11 saves. Freshman goalie
Cassidy Joslin started in goal for the red, white and blue and finished with two stops.
Detroit Mercy will be back in action on Sunday as the Titans welcome Eastern Michigan for a 1 p.m. kick-off on campus.Â
