Antoine Davis Invited To Nike Skills Academy

DETROIT (8/6/2019) -- Off an outstanding rookie campaign that opened the eyes of the national media and NBA scouts, University of Detroit Mercy sophomore Antoine Davis received an invitation to the Nike Skills Academy.

The academy is set for August 7-11 at Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, California, and will feature 20 of the top collegiate basketball players as well as the nation's top 80 high school players.

The event will have a number of elite instructors and include intense skill development and competition in front of hundreds of college coaches, members of the media and scouts from nearly every NBA team.

As a freshman in 2018-19, Davis earned a number of accolades and set a few school, conference and NCAA records for a freshman. He was the Horizon League Freshman of the Year and a finalist for the USBWA Wayman Tisdale Award for National Freshman Player of the Year. He was also tabbed a freshman All-American by Collegeinsider.com and was on the Lou Henson All-America Team.

He was third in the nation and led the Horizon League in scoring at 26.1 points per game, just the fifth Titan to lead the HL in offense and the first freshman in conference history to lead the league.

Davis made a NCAA freshman record 132, 3-pointers, breaking the mark held by current NBA superstar Stephen Curry. The 132 triples were second in school history and the fifth most in the Horizon League record book. His 784 points on the year was second in school history, one away from the school record, a HL freshman record and the fourth-most in league history.

His freshman season also saw him finish in the top 10 in the country in 3-pointers per game (4.40-second), total 3-pointers (132-fifth), field goals (263-12th) and total points (784-10th), all Horizon League highs. He recorded 23, 20-point games, nine 30+ point outings and a pair of 40-point explosions, including a Titan and Horizon League freshman record 48 points against Wright State, the second-most in school history and one away from the school record, and the sixth most in HL play, tying a school mark with 10 triples.

Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by contacting Director of Ticket Operations & Sales Justin Hairston at 313-993-1700 ext. 7301 or at hairstjj1@udmercy.edu.
