TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (9/13/2019) -- The Titans scored just a minute into the contest and never looked back as the University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team went on the road and defeated Indiana State, 3-1, on Friday night.
Detroit Mercy (2-3-1) scored on a corner kick just 1:08 into the game as junior
Julie Ann Piechocki was able to bend one in over the goalie for an early lead. The Titans then had first-half strikes as freshman
Sofia Bellaire and sophomore
Emily Lorkowski each scored their first collegiate goals as the red, white and blue took a 3-0 advantage at the break.

Cassidy Joslin made a season-high 10 saves to register her second win of the season and sophomore
Hailey Wentzloff assisted on a pair of the Titan markers.
Detroit Mercy will be back in action on Sunday as the Titans complete their Indiana weekend trip with a match at Purdue Fort Wayne. Game time is set for 1 p.m.Â
First Period:
- Junior Rachel Russo had a shot just 30 seconds in
- A little more than a minute into the game, Piechocki took the corner and hit a beautiful ball that curved into the goal for an early score
- Freshman Stephanie Maniaci's shot was saved in the 12th minute
- Joslin made her first save at 13:57
- Russo had another boot that was saved in the 24th minute
- Bellaire then posted her first collegiate strike taking a pass from Wentzloff and firing it high over the keeper and to the left side of the goal for a 2-0 at 28:34
- Joslin made another stop in the 30th minute
- Lorkowski then beat the defense and lined a shot past the keeper for a 3-0 advantage with 10 minutes left in the half, scoring on her first-ever collegiate shot
Second Period:
- The Sycamores came out firing, but Joslin posted three saves in the first five minutes and added another in the 52nd minute
- Sophomore Nasreen Kobeissi ripped a shot high at 55:15
- Wentzloff had a shot go wide in the 60th minute
- Joslin intercepted an ISU cross with 19:20 left as she snatched the ball out of the air
- Sophomore Cece Muskovac made two saves in the final seven minutes
- Indiana State found the back of the bet with 4:48 remaining
Game Notes:
- This was the first career meeting with Indiana State
- Detroit Mercy is now 28-15-3 all-time against current members of the Missouri Valley Conference
- The three goals are the most by the Titans against a Division I team since beating Eastern Michigan, 3-0, at home in 2017 and the most on the road since blanking Purdue Fort Wayne, 3-0, also in 2017
- It was the first game that two Titans have scored their first career goals since freshmen Mary LeAnnais and Aubrey Formica each had their first collegiate markers against Marygrove in 2013
- Piechocki's goal just 1:08 into the match was the fastest score by a Titan since Doyle scored 32 seconds into the contest against Bowling Green in 2017
- Wentzloff's two helpers are the most by a Titan since Russo had two at NKU last year
- Joslin now has 29 saves in the last four games
