YPSILANTI, Mich. (1/25/2020) - The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team had several top-ten finishes as the Titans competed in their first scoring meet of the season at Eastern Michigan.
JuniorÂ
Thomas Mueller finished in the highest place for the Titans in the mile run. Mueller finished third with a time of 4:16, just passing his old PR by .21.
SophomoreÂ
Payton Norkey opened the meet with a top-five finish in the 60m hurdles, while Norkey finished fifth with a time of 8.50.
There were three Titans that finished in the top 10 in the 200-meter dash. FreshmanÂ
Dante Bassham led the titans with a 4th place finish in a time of 22.92 (PR) followed by freshmenÂ
Davis Hellonen taking 6th and Derrick Ball taking 10th.
The Titans took advantage of their depth in numbers and ran four 4x400-meter relay teams, with team A taking fourth overall.
The field side of the team held the majority of the point scorers.Â
SophomoreÂ
Daniel Lanfear took fourth in the high jump with 1.98-meters. In the pole vault, freshmanÂ
Logan Collins placed fifth with a mark of 4.25m while juniorÂ
Jacob Spiaser placed seventh at 4.10m.
Detroit Mercy will now have a week to prepare for the Youngstown National Invitational, where many major teams are expected to compete on Jan. 31 in Youngstown, Ohio.
