Women's Basketball Announces Four Non-Conference Games

DETROIT (11/17/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team and head coach AnnMarie Gilbert has announced four non-conference games, which will begin next week, starting with a home game against Jesuit foe Xavier from Calihan Hall.

The Titans, entering their 44th season overall and first under Gilbert, are slated for two non-league games at home and two contests on the road leading up to the Horizon League schedule. Detroit Mercy opens the season hosting the Musketeers on Wednesday, Nov. 25 in a 2 p.m. ET game from Calihan Hall. The Titans then welcome Indiana State to Detroit on Sunday, Nov. 29, also in a 2 p.m. contest.

Both home games will be streamed live on either ESPN3 or ESPN-Plus from inside Calihan Hall. The Titans are playing all home games in the 2020-21 season without fans in attendance due to the pandemic.

The red, white and blue then hits the road for two non-conference contests, facing Big Ten opponent Michigan State on Wednesday, Dec. 2 before heading just across the border for a road battle at Toledo on Saturday, Dec. 5. Game times for both of those games have yet to be announced.

The contest against MSU is a homecoming of sorts for Gilbert, who was an assistant coach for the Spartans for five seasons (2002-07).

The Horizon League announced a 20-game conference slate for the Titans, earlier this fall with Detroit Mercy playing 10 games at home and 10 games away from Calihan Hall in December, January and February. Detroit Mercy opens the HL slate at home on Dec. 12-13, hosting Wright State in 2 p.m. games on both days.
