ALLENDALE, Mich. (2/15/2020) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's and track and field teams got a glimpse into the future of the program with fabulous finishes at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet this Saturday.
 
Freshman speedster Dante Bassham won first place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.98 seconds.
 
The men's 4x400 relay team also earned a first-place outing in sections three and four of the race.
 
In the high jump, junior Justin Koch placed seventh in flight two, while sophomore Daniel Lanfear placed eighth in flight one.
 
Derrick Ball Jr. claimed fifth in the triple jump with a score of 13.17m and Zachary Zaborney placed 10th with a jump of 12.12m rounding out a great day for the squad's freshmen.
 
The men's track and field team season continues, as the team heads down I-94 to compete at the University of Michigan Silverston Invitational Friday Feb. 21 in Ann Arbor.
