For the past 31 years, the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships has been a staple of college basketball's biggest weekend. All-Americans, Naismith Basketball Hall of Famers, NBA and WNBA superstars, current college head coaches and many more have showcased their talents at college basketball's all-star showcase event over the years.
 
"Celebrating the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships" looks back at some of the biggest names and memorable moments from the past 31 years of the competition. The two-hour special will premiere Thursday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2, with an encore presentation set for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN.
 
ESPN analyst LaPhonso Ellis, who participated in the 1992 Slam Dunk competition, and Kendall Gill, an All-American at Illinois and a Slam Dunk and 3-Point participant in the 1990 competition, will reminisce about their experiences competing in the event. Other show highlights will include the 2002 Slam Dunk showdown between Rolan Roberts of Southern Illinois and Brandon Dean of Arkansas, the 2006 Slam Dunk contest featuring David Noel of North Carolina, James White of Cincinnati and Rodney Carney of Memphis and the 2013 Slam Dunk contest that was highlighted by Detroit Mercy's Doug Anderson and his show-stopping slams. Some of the best 3-point shooting performances will also be part of the celebration, including Central Michigan's Presley Hudson's performance in 2019 that saw her dominate the competition.
 
Since the event's inception in 1989, many of the top players in college basketball have competed in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships before moving on to the professional ranks, including Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Allan Houston, Wesley Matthews, Denzel Valentine, Yogi Ferrell, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, Kristi Toliver, Odyssey Sims, Tiffany Hayes, Tiffany Mitchell and Ariel Atkins.
