Davis Attacking Titan Offensive Records

DETROIT (4/7/2020) -- It was another year of massive offensive output by University of Detroit Mercy guard Antoine Davis as he continues to climb the chart in multiple school records and has even placed himself in the NCAA record book.

In two seasons, Davis has already scored 1,513 career points, 13th in school history, as he passed 30 members of the Titan 1,000-point club this past season, including some outstanding scorers in Brandon Cotton, Dorie Murrey, Norm Swanson and Tony Tolbert.

Ahead of him on his pursuit of number one and Rashad Phillips' 2,319 points are the likes of Bill Ebben (1,578), Ray McCallum (1,618), Terry Duerod (1,690), Willie Green (1,779) and John Long (2,167).

"My alma mater's Antoine Davis is the greatest scorer in school history. He's a greater scorer than I was. Yes I said it," said Phillips on twitter recently.

He already has drained 233, 3-pointers and that is tied for third in the school record book trailing only Phillips' 348 and Desmond Ferguson's 235.

In NCAA history in just two seasons, his 3.88, three-point field goals per game is currently fifth all-time in NCAA history, behind Timothy Pollard's 4,57 (Mississippi Valley), Sydney Grider's 4.36 (Louisiana Lafayette), Stephen Curry's 3.98 (Davidson) and Brian Merriweather's 3.95 (Texas-Pan American). Just last year, he broke the NCAA freshman record held by Curry with 132 single-season makes en route to another NCAA freshman mark of 4.4 per game.

He is already top 10 in school history in a number of other categories including holding the second and sixth spot in total points with 784 as a freshman and 729 this past season. He also connected on 90.1 percent at the free-throw line as a sophomore, third in school history, and research is still being done to see if his 38-straight at one point during the year was a school record.

Davis has played in 60 games in his two years and has tallied 44 career 20-point games, 15 career 30-point outings and three 40-point contests, while scoring in double figures in all 60, reaching at least 17 points in 49 contests.

As a freshman, he was eighth in the league in assists with a team-high 3.6 per game and his 107 assists on the season was the most by a Titan since the 2012-13 campaign. He increased that with 4.5 assists per game this past year, fourth in the HL and 89th in the nation, and 134 total helpers.

"The guy's explosive," said Duerod in an interview last year. "He can definitely play offense. He's, fast, he's quick."
