DETROIT (7/13/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team has announced a strong recruiting class for 2021.
The nine-member class includes two NCAA transfers, a junior college transfer and six high school standouts.
"This class features a lot of guys that can score, but overall, this class has something that we love here and that is the determination to work hard and play for your team," said head coach
Chris Kolon '09 (MBA). "These kids believe in the value of teamwork and to play together and they should fit right in with our winning culture."
Luke Majick * M * 5-10 * 194 * Grand Rapids, Mich. * Forest Hills Central HS (Furman)
- Spent his freshman year at Furman playing in seven games with three starts and posted a goal with two assists
- A four-year letter winner in high school and helped his team win a state championship as a freshman and senior and runner-up as a sophomore and junior along with four region and three conference titles
- Named an All-American as a senior
- A two-time All-Region, All-State and All-Conference selection
- Finished his prep career with 151 goals, 92 assists and 243 points
Harrison Albano * A * 5-10 * 170 * Plymouth, Mich. * Plymouth HS
- Earned three varsity letters
- Selected a US Lacrosse All-American as well as First Team All-State and All-Conference as a sophomore
- Tallied 91 goals and 45 assists in his career, including a school-record 88 as a junior on 61 goals and 27 assists
- Helped his team to a regional championship
- Played club with PIG
Will Edell * A * 5-9 * 170 * Castle Pines, Colo. * Rock Canyon HS
- Earned letters in lacrosse, basketball, football and tennis
- Named All-State in lacrosse as a senior and All-Conference as a junior and senior
- Also tabbed Academic All-State
- Helped his team win a league championship as a senior
- Posted 60 points on 43 goals and 17 assists as a senior
- Inducted into his high school's Athletic Wall of honor
- Played club with the Denver Elite
Ally Don Jean-Francois * M * 5-11 * 195 * Las Vegas, Nev. * Centennial HS
- Earned letters in lacrosse, basketball and soccer
- Selected a Brine All-American as a freshman in lacrosse
- Posted 23 goals and 12 assists along with 45 ground balls
- Did not play lacrosse as a sophomore and junior as his freshman team was canceled and league rules did not allow him to play for another school
- Played club with the Vegas Starz, West Coast Starz and Nations United
Cole Gellatly * A * 5-9 * 150 * Bloomfield Hills, Mich. * Brother Rice HS (Colorado Mesa)
- Attended Colorado Mesa as a freshman but did not play
- A varsity letter winner in lacrosse and cross country
- A team captain as a senior
- Earned the Unsung Hero award and led the varsity orange in goals as a sophomore with 44 to go with 11 assists
- Helped his team to a Division 1 state championship in 2019
- Played club with the Black Grizzlies
Jakob Hemme * G * 5-11 * 165 * Livonia, Mich. * Detroit Catholic Central HS
- Earned varsity letters in lacrosse and hockey
- Named Second Team All-State and the Defensive MVP as a sophomore
- Helped his team win a state championship in 2018
- Played club with True Michigan and True National
Nicholas Lamb * D * 5-8 * 165 * Troy, Mich. * Seaholm HS
- A varsity letter winner in lacrosse, hockey and tennis
- A two-time team captain
- Tabbed All-Region and All-Conference as a junior
Noah Martin * LSM * 6-0 * 162 * Williston, Vt. * Trinity-Pawling HS (NY)
- Started his high school career at Champion Valley Union before transferring to Trinity-Pawling
- A varsity letter winner in lacrosse, basketball and soccer
- Selected a US Lacrosse All-American in 2019 as well as First Team All-State
- Earned the Rising Star in the state of Vermont in 2018
- Played club with 802 Lacrosse
Jack Watsic * A/M * 6-3 * 185 * Mt. Airy, Md. * Linganore HS (Howard Community College)
- A junior college transfer who was selected Region XX All-Tournament team and NJCAA All-Tournament as a freshman
- A team captain, he was named to the Inside Lacrosse Player of the Year watch list in 2020
- Registered 63 points on 26 goals and 37 assists to go with 68 grounds balls and 28 caused turnovers as a freshman and scored the game-winning goal in the NJCAA tournament to go to the Final Four
- Earned varsity letters in lacrosse, soccer and track
- Named All-County in lacrosse as a senior and finished his prep career with 76 goals and 52 assists
- Played for the USA national box lacrosse team
