DETROIT (1/2/2021) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team dropped its second-straight home game of the weekend Saturday, falling the league-leading Milwaukee by a 77-38 margin from Calihan Hall. The Panthers are one of two teams in the Horizon League with a 6-0 mark in league play following Saturday.
Junior guard
Kaela Webb led the Titans with nine points, while sophomore guard
Markyia McCormick added seven points for Detroit Mercy. Senior
Aly Reiff had four points, five rebounds and three steals for the red, white and blue.
The Titans scored the first four points of the contest with Reiff scoring on the very first possession and Webb scoring later on a fast-break lay-up after Reiff had a block on the defensive end. After a Milwaukee run, McCormick sank a jumper as Detroit Mercy trailed 9-8 late in the first stanza. The Panthers would score the final four points of the quarter to lead after one, 13-8.
Milwaukee would up its advantage to 20-10 early in the second quarter before Reiff sank a turn-around jumper. Sophomore forward
Sammiyah Hoskin scored off a great pass from Webb later in the stanza and McCormick scored five consecutive points in the final three minutes of the first half, but the Titans trailed at the break, 38-21.
Junior
Cierra Harrison sank a 3-pointer early in the second half and Webb drilled a 3-pointer off a screen in the final minute of the third, but Milwaukee continued to lead following three quarters of play, 56-33. The Panthers pulled away in the fourth quarter to earn the victory inside Calihan Hall.
The Titans had 10 steals in the contest with Reiff tallying three and McCormick adding two thefts. Sophomore forward

Sylare Starks each contributed four caroms for the red, white and blue. Detroit Mercy continued its good free-throw shooting this year, sinking 12-of-17 shots (70.6%) from the line.

• The Titans forced 20 more turnovers on Saturday after forcing 20 in Friday's contest.
• On the season, Detroit Mercy has made 150-of-205 free throw shots and is in the top-four in the conference in free-throw shooting (73.2%).
• With 10 steals in the game, it marked the third time this season the squad has recorded 10 or more steals.
• It was the 61st meeting all-time between the two programs (Milwaukee leads, 33-28).
