Titans Upended In Season Opener

LARAMIE, Wy. (11/10/2021) -- Junior Madut Akec tallied a double-double with a career-high 14 points and career-best 13 rebounds and senior Antoine Davis netted 16 points, but a hot-shooting Wyoming team was too much as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team fell 85-47 on the road on Wednesday night.

Senior Matt Johnson added nine points and five rebounds and Davis handed out three assists.

Wyoming scored the first six points of the game before graduate senior Kevin McAdoo stopped that run with a 3-pointer. The Cowboys would later open a double-digit lead at 25-8 midway through the first half before taking a 40-21 lead at the break.

The Cowboys would extend their lead to as many as 40, 85-45, late in the game.

Detroit Mercy will be back in action on Saturday as the Titans visit Toledo in a 7:00 p.m. match-up.

First Period:
  • McAdoo hit a triple to stop a 6-0 run to start the game
  • A basket by Davis and later a 3-pointer made it 19-8 with 12:28 on the clock
  • Davis would hit a jumper, Johnson nailed a three and Akec went inside for a jumper to make it 29-18 with 6:34 left
  • Johnson connected on another three to cut it to 40-21 and that's how it went into the half
