INDIANAPOLIS (11/18/2021) -- A pair of Titan cross country upperclassmen were honored by the Horizon League for their athletic and academic excellence as graduate senior Thomas Mueller and junior Allison Sherman were named to the All-Academic Team.

A total of 16 student-athletes earned the honor of being named to the All-Academic Team, while eight more were tabbed as honorable mentions. Faculty Athletic Representatives from all 12 member institutions cast their votes for this award.

It is the third time that Mueller has been named to the team in cross country, while Sherman was tabbed for the second-straight season.

Mueller - who holds a 3.86 GPA in Cyber Security - led the Titans in four of the five races this year, setting an 8K career-best of 25:22 at the Live In Lou Classic. He also earned All-Horizon League Second Team accolades placing 13th at the league championships in 26:24 on a muddy course.

Sherman holds a 4.0 GPA in Electrical Engineering. She led the Titans in four of the five races on the year and was All-Horizon League for the second time in her career taking 14th in a 6k career-best 23:32. She also placed fourth at the home 5k meet and set her 5k career-low of 18:40 for 11th at Louisville. 

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
