Emma Trawally Porta posted a career-high 10 points off the bench on 4-of-10 shooting with three blocks and two steals while junior
Imani McNeal also added 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting with six rebounds and four steals as Detroit Mercy mounted a last minute fourth quarter rally that came up short as the Titans fell 67-60 at Akron on Monday night.
Graduate student
Brandi Washington chipped in with nine points, three assists, five rebounds and a team-high five steals. Defensively, Detroit Mercy (0-6) grabbed a season-high 15 steals and forced 22 Akron (3-2) turnovers which led to 23 points. Both teams had success down low scoring 32 points in the paint.

Sydney Searcy adding eight points going 2-for-4 from 3-point range with five boards and three assists. Graduate student
Daija Moses added six points with six rebounds while
Janna Lewis saw action for the first time since the season opener scoring six points with three rebounds.
Trailing 60-48 with two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Detroit Mercy went on a 12-4 run with four points coming from McNeal, two from Washington and back-to-back triples from Searcy cutting the deficit to four points at 64-60 with 20 seconds left. However, the Titans missed their last two 3-point attempts as Zips closed out the game from the free throw line to seal the win.
In the first half, Akron opened the second quarter on a 11-0 run to take a 25-13 lead. After the Zips' run moved to 13-2, Detroit Mercy responded with a 6-0 run to close the gap at 32-21 at the half. Akron extended the lead to 51-39 af the end of the third quarter
Detroit Mercy returns home to host defending #HLWBB champion IUPUI on Thur., Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.
