Phoenix Suns Sign Former Titan Standout Paris Bass

DETROIT (12/31/2021) -- Former University of Detroit Mercy starParis Bass will look to become the latest Titan to play in the NBA as the Phoenix Suns have signed the versatile forward to a 10-day contract. 

He started the season playing in the NBA G League with the South Bay Lakers and tallied 17.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals, shooting 49.0 % from the field and 35.3% from three. 

Bass was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Year in 2015 and First Team All-Horizon League and Second Team NABC All-District as a sophomore.

After redshirting the 2013-14 season, he started his collegiate career averaging 12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, leading the team in rebounding and finishing second on the team in scoring and assists. He also topped the squad with 35 blocks. 

As a sophomore, he led the team in scoring (18.4), rebounding (8.0), blocks (1.4) and steals (1.4), finishing fourth in the HL in blocks, fifth in scoring and rebounding, and tied for sixth in steals. His 18.4 points was 71st in the nation and he also recorded double figures in scoring in 19 of his 24 contests with 13, 20-point outings and seven double-doubles, which was tied for third in the HL in 20-point games and tied for seventh in double-doubles.

After his two years with the Titans, he played in the NBA G League with the Erie Bay Hawks before heading overseas for a few seasons and becoming one of the top scorers in Puerto Rico. 

A three-star recruit by Rivals.com, he averaged 23.4 points and 12.4 rebounds per game as a senior at Seaholm High School and was named to both the 2013 Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) All-State Team and the Detroit News All-Metro North First Team.

When he officially checks in a game, he will be the 22nd Titan all-time to play in the NBA and the first since Ray McCallum, who played from 2013-16 with Sacramento and Memphis.
