Davis Named Finalist For Lou Henson Award

BOSTON (3/18/2021) -- For the second time in his career, University of Detroit Mercy junior Antoine Davis has earned All-American status and is one of the 30 finalists for the Lou Henson Award.

The Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division I college basketball.

Davis was also a Lou Henson All-American and finalist as a freshman in 2018-19. So far on the year, Davis has earned First Team All-Horizon League, NABC First Team All-District 12 and an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American.

Davis was one of two players from the Horizon League along with Wright State's Loudon Love.

As it stands now, Davis led the Horizon League and is second in the nation in scoring at 24.0 points per game. If that holds up, he will become just the second player in HL history to lead the league in scoring three times (Loyola, Alfredrick Hughes -1983, 1984, 1985).

Davis is also top 20 in the country in several other categories including second in 3-pointers per game (3.77) and minutes played per game (38:34), fourth in free-throw percentage (91.7%), 10th in total 3-pointers (83), 14th in total points (527) and 18th in total field goals (178).

He also posted 4.8 assists per game, good for sixth in the Horizon League and 58th in DI, to go with 1.45 steals per contest, seventh in the league.

The three-time All-Horizon League guard netted double figures in all 22 of his games, recording a HL-best 15, 20-point games, five 30-point outings and a conference high-tying 46 points, just two off his career-high. He now has four, 40-point games in his career, the most by any Titan in school history.

Players on teams from the following conferences are eligible for the award: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.

The recipient of the 2021 award will be announced on April 1.
