DETROIT (3/8/2021) -- The University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics has made some changes to its outdoor fan policy. Starting today, March 8, any home match or game played
ON campus will have a select number of Titan fans to cheer on the red, white and blue.
As part of the new policy, each member of the Titan team will be allowed to have two members on its "guest list". The fans are confined to the home team only and not for visiting teams/outside fans.
"We have always recognized the importance of fans, especially family, to attend games," said Director of Athletics
Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "All of the policies we have implemented were always for the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, staff and fans. After discussing the matter further within our athletic staff, we have devised a plan that will allow family and friends to attend and if followed, will keep everyone safe as we continue to deal with the pandemic."
The Department of Athletics is also asking all families to review the fan policies of all games when the team is on the road. Each institution and conference has its own set of rules. The policy below is just for Titan home games on campus.
Below is the Titan fan policy that must be followed by everyone:
- Each student-athlete will be allowed to have a maximum of two (2) guests in attendance at all home games.
- Guests must submit their request for attendance (and those who will be attending) to Matt Rzepecki, Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions, at least 24 hours prior to the game/match. You can reach him at rzepecmj@udmercy.edu or at 313-412-0456.
- Bleacher seating will be unavailable, standing room only around Titan Field and in the hills in the outfield at Buysse Ballpark.
- Masks must be worn at all times; social distancing must be maintained between families from different households.
- Calihan Hall will be unavailable for fans to utilize restrooms.
- No tailgating will be allowed on the campus of Detroit Mercy.
- Proper distance must be maintained between parents and their student-athletes at all times.
- Please do not arrive more than 45 minutes before the start of the contest.
- When the game is over, fans must vacate the area and not congregate in the parking lots. This is due to the student-athletes and coaches are currently engaged in testing requirements for participation and to not jeopardize the season for the rest of the team.
