Titans Finalize 2021-22 Roster With Three Additions

DETROIT (8/12/2021) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball program has finalized its roster for the upcoming 2021-22 season, as interim head coach LaTanya Collins announced the addition of three student-athletes to the Titan family on Thursday.

The three student-athletes are Lucia Fleta Robles (San Cristobal de La Laguna, Spain / Laramie County CC), Monique Pruitt (Chicago, Ill. / Utah State) and Brandi Washington (Monroe, La. / Grambling State).

"All three of these young ladies could potentially have excellent careers in a Titan uniform," Collins said. "They all fit our system here at Detroit Mercy and they all have the ability to score and defend the ball. It should be exciting to watch their growth here at Detroit Mercy. In addition to being exciting on the court, all three have excelled in the classroom during their time in college. We are happy to welcome Lucia, Monique and Brandi to our Titan family."

With the addition of the three Titans, first-year interim head coach LaTanya Collins has 13 players on the roster for the 2021-22 season. Fleta Robles becomes the fourth player from Spain to be announced, with Pruitt and Washington are the fourth and fifth Division I transfers joining the program. 

Fleta Robles has played in one collegiate season, while Washington and Pruitt have competed in multiple college basketball seasons with their respective programs.

Earned All-Region North & All-Tournament Team honors in Region IX ... Averaged 10.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game ... Ranked second on the team in scoring and second with 34 steals ... Shot 70.3% from the free throw line, while sinking 32.0% of 3-point attempts (31-of-97) and shot 39.6% from the field overall ... Scored in double figures 14 times, with a season-high of 22, hitting five 3-pointers ... Helped squad to 12 wins and scored a team-high 18 points to lead team in a tournament victory. (High School): Lettered in both basketball and track and field for I.E.S. Tegueste, graduating in 2020 ... Helped team to first place in Canary Islands Championship in 2019 as well as a pair of runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2020 ... Named to the All-Star Team in Fred Olsen Tournament in 2018 ... Averaged 8.7 points per game in high school ... Played club basketball with Tegueste (2006-14), La Salle (2014-18) and CB Clarinos (2018-20), helping teams to several top finishes in Canary Islands Championship.

Collins on Fleta Robles: "Lucia is a tough, disciplined player who pays attention to detail on the court and plays hard. She is a two-way player who fits our system well. Her efficiency from 3 will be instrumental in elevating our team's offensive productivity. Her commitment to defense is what sets her apart from a lot of players. Averaged 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in just 13.5 minutes per game for Utah State ... Scored in double figures five times, including a season-best 16 points against Air Force ... Had one double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five steals against Boise State ... Ranked second on the squad with 20 steals and third with nine blocks ... Shot 33.9% from the floor (39-of-115) and 58.3% from the free throw line (21-of-36) ... Collins on Pruitt: "Monique is extremely athletic and versatile. Her skill set will allow her to play multiple positions for us this season. Mo should make an impact on both the offensive and defensive end of the floor. She can be a really exciting player to watch. I am looking forward to watching her grow in our system."

Brandi Washington // Guard

High School: Ouachita Parish
Previous Schools: Grambling State, Pensacola State
Accolades (Previous Schools): Played the 2020-21 season at Grambling State, seeing time in 19 contests (two starts) and averaging 4.3 points, 1.4 rebounds for the Tigers ... Knocked down 14 3-pointers and scored in double figures twice ... Shot 81.3% from the free throw line and 35.1% from the floor overall ... Earned Academic All-America honors as a freshman at Pensacola State and was First Team All-Conference the following season as a sophomore with the Pirates ... Averaged 17.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists, starting all 22 games as a sophomore for Pensacola ... Made 60 triples during sophomore year, making 41.4% from behind the arc (60-of-145) ... Also shot 84.8% from the free throw line (89-of-105) in 2018-19 ... Sank 82 treys overall across two seasons and scored 523 points total ... Collins on Washington: "Brandi, historically has shot the 3 well and that is definitely something we are looking to improve upon this season. Her length and athleticism will allow Brandi to make an impact on both the offensive and defensive end of the floor. Brandi fits our system well.
