CLEVELAND (9/18/2021) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team controlled the action for much of the contest, but the Vikings were able to sneak in two second-half goals as the Titans fell at Cleveland State, 2-0, on Saturday night.
The Titans (1-2-2, 0-1-0 HL) outshot the Vikings (3-2-0, 2-0-0 HL), 18-9, with eight on frame, and had a 10-3 advantage on corner kicks in the game.

Jonathan Kliewer made four saves on the day. Sophomore
Samory Powder led the offense with four shots, two on net, while seniors
Daniel Iyok and
Demetri Pliakos each had two shots on net, while senior
Ryan Pierson and sophomore
Luke Winters each had one on cage.
In the first half, both teams had a shot on goal early on as Kliewer picked up his first save in the 11th minute. The Titans had three corner kicks and four shots in the next 20 minutes, with Pliakos having the best look on an attempt that was saved in the 33rd minute.
Detroit Mercy had two more shots, not on net, and Kliewer was able to turn away a Vikings' chance in the 41st to keep it scoreless at the half.
In the second half, the Titans were on the attack in the first 10 minutes, firing five shots, three on goal, but were just not able to find the back of the net before Cleveland State scored in the 59th minute.
The red, white and blue had five more offensive shots with Iyok's boot stopped in the 72nd minute and Winters' shot saved in the 78th minute before CSU added another goal a minute later
The Titans will be back in action on Tuesday as they visit Bowling Green in a 7:00 p.m. match.
