Western Michigan (9-1) got their first goal off a break away just 3:48 into the match. Powder made a strong bid for the equalizer in the 36th minute as he ripped a shot off a free kick to the bottom right corner but WMU goalkeeper Hunter Morse made a diving save to keep Detroit Mercy (1-5-4) off the board to preserve the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Broncos scored just 58 seconds in the second half to take a 2-0 lead. The Titans had another golden opportunity to get on the board in the 60th minute as Galati headed a corner kick cross that beat Morse but hit the crossbar.
WMU then added a third goal in the 78th minute and another off a free kick in the 87th minute to seal their ninth consecutive win. The Broncos are now 12-0 against in-state opponents since the 2018 season.
