DAYTON, OHIO (2/24/22) - Detroit Mercy had four players in
double figures led by graduate student
Janna Lewis who posted her first career double-double in a Titan uniform with 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds with four assists. Sophomore
Irene Murua also poured in a career-high 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting just missing a double-double with nine rebounds as the Titans rallied from 16 points down in the second half before coming up short at Wright State, 71-67, on Thursday afternoon.

Imani McNeal also chipped in with 10 points going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Sophomore Lucia Fleata Robles also added eight points, three boards and two assists.
For the game, both teams shot over 40% from the field as Detroit Mercy (1-27, 1-20 HL) went 26-for-61 (42.6%) while WSU (4-17, 3-13 HL) was 27-for-43 (42.9%).
After trailing by 16 points in the first half and 12 points at halftime, 38-26, the Titans chipped away and closed out the third quarter on a 14-5 run cutting the deficit down to five points, 53-48, entering the fourth.
The Titans' run continued with a 12-0 mark while holding WSU scoreless for over five minutes to open the fourth quarter. Detroit Mercy outscored WSU 27-12 overall since the six-minute mark of the third.
Lewis hit a turn around jumper off the glass pulling the Titans within two points at 54-52 with 8:00 minutes left in the game. The Titans then went cold not scoring over a four-minute span while WSU broke the drought with a quick 6-0 spurt to move ahead 58-52. Fleta Robles banked in a 3-pointer, followed by a layup from McNeal, and a free throw from Murua to once again trail by two points at 62-60 with two minutes to go.
After a pair of WSU free throws, Murua added a layup to bring the Titans within two points again at 64-62 with 1:24 left. The Raiders added consecutive layups to move ahead 68-62 with 19 seconds left with the second coming off a despration 3-point attempt that baley drew iron and ended up right into the hands of Jada Wight who had the easy put back,
Powell then banked in a 3-point bucket to close the gap to 68-65 with nine seconds left. After Detroit Mercy was forced to foul, WSU hit one free throw followed by a Lewis layup making it 69-67 with 1.1 seconds remaining. The Raiders then added a pair of free throws to seal the game.
Both teams played close to even in the second quarter with WSU outscoring the Titans by one point 17-16 to increase their lead to 12 points, 38-26, at the half. Murua carried the load for the Titans scoring eight points giving her 12 with four rebounds heading into the locker room.
Wright State started the game forcing 10 Detroit turnovers with eight steals defensively while going 3-for-7 from long range compared to 0-for-4 for Detroit Mercy to take a 21-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Detroit Mercy closes out the regular season at Northern Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m.
