YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO (3/10/22) - Junior
Allison Smith swung a hot bat going 2-for-5 overall with four RBI off a three-run double and RBI single with walk and run scored while junior
Jordan Hazel went 3-for-5 with a RBI as Detroit Mercy pushed Youngstown State to the limit before falling 8-6 and 3-1 in a #HLSB opening twinbill on Thursday at the YSU softball Field.

McKenna Tanguay also hit 3-for-7 overall with a run and walk while Senior
Taryn Perun hit 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and a run scored overall.
The Titans racked up a season-high six runs on nine hits and in game one. Junior
Renee Trotman went 2-for-4 with two runs scored while graduate student
Leena Mortensen also hit 2-for-4 with a double. Junior
Jordyn Chapman also hit 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

Game 1:
• Mortensen hit a double in the second inning and was moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt. Tanguay drew a walk but Titans stranded both runners on 1st & 3rd.
• YSU batted around in the bottom half to score three runs in the second inning
• The Penguins get a three-run homer in the third
• Detroit Mercy loaded the bases and got a run off a throwing error in the top of the fourth inning. Smith followed with a 3-run double, Hazel added an RBI single pulling the Titans within a run at 6-5
• YSU added pair of runs off a RBI double and single in the bottom of the fourth
• Chapman delivered an RBI-single, scoring Trotman in the top of the fifth.
• Murphy got out of bases loaded jam in the bottom of the sixth inning
Game 2:
• YSU took a 3-0 lead in the second inning with four hits
• Gauthier posted Detroit Mercy's first hit of the game in the third inning
• Smith recorded her fourth RBI of the day with a single to right field to score Erickson
• Tanguay had a single in the fifth inning
• Hazel posted a single up the middle in the sixth inning
• Tanguay recorded her second hit of the game in the top of the seventh inning
Both teams will play the series finale on Friday, Mar. 11 at 11 a.m.
