DETROIT (8/1/2022) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team has inked another immediate transfer for the upcoming year as
Arashma Parks has announced his commitment to the Titans.
Parks - a 6-9, 230-pound forward - played the last four years at Temple of the American Athletic Conference, appearing in 49 games with 14 starts. As a senior, he played in 19 games with 13 starts and averaged 1.1 points and 2.7 rebounds along with tallying six assists.
"Arashma will give us a big presence around the basket," said head coach
Mike Davis. "He can be a good rebounder and shot blocker for us. He played at a high major school and I believe he will be really good for our program."
After missing his freshman year due to an injury, he came back as a sophomore to play in 22 games and posted 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds, putting in a career-high 10 points against St. Joseph's. His career high in boards came last season with six at Cincinnati.
As a prep, he registered 11.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks as a senior at the Phelps School in Malvern, Pennsylvania, shooting 56.0 percent from the field and helping his team to a 21-12 record. Prior to transferring to the Phelps School, he played for Springfield (Mass.) Commonwealth Academy from 2014-17.
Parks is the latest member of the team that at the moment features graduate senior and All-American candidate
Antoine Davis, a four-time All-Horizon League First Team selection and the 2021-22 Horizon League Co-Player of the Year.
He enters the upcoming season with 2,734 career points, tops in school history, second all-time in Horizon League history (180 away from first) and 22nd in NCAA history (266 away from becoming the 11th player in NCAA history to score 3,000 points). His 429, 3-pointers are first in Horizon League history and 12th in NCAA history, while his 3.86, three-point field goals per game is currently fifth all-time in the NCAA record book. Davis is also fourth in NCAA history in consecutive games in double figures with 111 - just four off the all-time NCAA mark - as he has 77 career 20-point games, 26 career 30-point outings and four 40-point contests.
