DETROIT (8/31/2022) -- For the first time in six years, the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will start its season at home as the Titans released their non-conference schedule on Tuesday.
The non-conference foes combined to go 176-152 (.536) last season with four teams reaching the postseason, including the semifinals of the NIT.
Detroit Mercy will play three November home games, starting with the season opener against Rochester on Nov. 8, the first home season opener for the red, white and blue since beating Adrian 99-69 in 2016.
After traveling to Jesuit-rival Boston College on Nov. 11, the Titans will return home to face Ohio on Nov. 16, a team that was 25-10 last year and made the CBI.
A trip to Florida follows that will begin a busy stretch around Thanksgiving that has Detroit Mercy playing four games in seven days. The Titans will be at Florida Atlantic on Nov. 19 and then Bryant two days later in Boca Raton before coming home to host Charlotte on Nov. 23, Thanksgiving Eve, and flying to Washington State on Nov. 25. FAU was 19-15 last year and qualified for the CBI, while the Bulldogs were 22-10 and won the Northeast Conference to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament and WSU was 22-15 and advanced to the semifinals of the NIT.
That contest against the Cougars starts a seven-game road trip as the Horizon League slate begins at Purdue Fort Wayne (Dec. 1) and Cleveland State (Dec. 3) followed by non-conference affairs at Tulsa (Dec. 7), at Charlotte (Dec. 10), at Eastern Michigan (Dec. 18) and at Cincinnati (Dec. 21).
The Horizon League schedule will then take over the rest of the way and the official 2022-23 roster will be released soon.
