Saeid Jannoun assisted on the game-winner. Redshirt sophomore Jonahan Kliewer picked up the win in goal making three saves.
The Titans got on the board first in the 34th minute as Kosto stole the ball from a CSU defender and bolted down the right side. He then slotted the ball over to Kosto who ripped a shot to the low left side into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
In the 47th minuteĀ of the second half, Jannoun took the ball deep down the leftĀ side into the corner. With the defenders closing in, he sent a cross over to the top of the box over to Brooks who blasted a shot that Galati was able to redirect from about three yards out past Cougar goalkeeper Marco Seyfert putting the Titans ahead 2-0.
CSU added a goal in the 83rd minute but the defense was able to stand tall and hold on for the 2-1 win.
Detroit Mercy travels to UMKC for a Labor Day matchĀ on Monday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
