Jonathan Kliewer kept Detroit Mercy (1-3-4, 0-0-3 HL) in the game making seven saves including one off a penalty kick in the first half.
With time winding down in the 89th minute, Powder sent a corner kick cross into the box where Sylvain leaped up high in the air and hit a solid header past Green Bay (3-2-3, 0-1-1 HL) goalkeeper Tobias Jahn to the left side for his first career goal.
In the 24th minute of the first half, Kliewer was called for a penalty inside the box. He was able to regroup and make a save off Michael McDougall's penalty kick attempt followed by an additional save off a rebound to keep Green Bay off the board.
In the 53rd minute, the Phoenix took a 1-0 lead as a shot deflected off the back of a Titan defender and went right to an unmarked Keegan Walker who slipped the ball past Kliewer at point blank range.
Detroit Mercy travels to arch-rival Oakland for a Metro Series showdown on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m.
