League Leaderboard Log Jam:
With only four league matches remaining on the schedule, Detroit Mercy enters the showdown against PFW with a 2-2-1 mark in league play which is tied with four other schools in Green Bay, Robert Morris, Wright State and Cleveland State. The Mastodons are in a second-place tie with Oakland at 3-2 behind league leader IUPUI at 3-1-1. Only the top six teams can advance to the #HLMSOC Championships.
 
Last Time Out:
Oct. 7 – Detroit Mercy 0 at Milwaukee 1:
Junior Andri Myftari recorded two shots with one on goal as Detroit Mercy saw its five-match unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 setback at Milwaukee in #HLMSOC action.
 
The Titans posted seven total shots with sophomores Guershom Sylvain and John Nino and freshman Josh Copeland each recording a shot on goal. Sophomore Quinn Tews made for total saves and didn't allow a goal in the first half before Milwaukee posted the game-winner in the 55th minute.
 
Solid Run:
With the 3-2 win over CSU (9/16) until the scoreless draw against the BGSU (10/3), the Titans posted a five-game unbeaten streak for first time since the 2017 season.
 
On the Board:
• Junior Andri Myftari scored his first career goal off a penalty kick giving Detroit Mercy a 2-1 lead late in the second half vs IUPUI. He also added his first career assist against CSU (9/16).
• Junior Alex Diac posted his first career assist against EIU (9/19) and first career goal off a penalty kick at San Francisco (8/27).
• Sophomore Guershom Sylvain added his first goal of the season and third of his career vs CSU.
• Senior Saeid Jannoun posted his first goal of the season at St. Mary's (8/24) and assisted on the game-winner at NKU.
 
Freshman Firsts:
• Drew Pierson added his first career assist at St. Mary's (8/24) and second against EIU.
• Pierson also scored his first career goal against.
• The tandem of Josh Copeland and Diego Zermeno added their first career assists on Sylvain's goal against CSU (9/16).
• Copeland also posted his first career goal against EIU.
 
All Day Allos:
Sophomore Tim Allos has been quite the spark coming off the bench recording a point in three consecutive games.
• Allos recorded his first career assist on the game-winner vs EIU (9/19).
• He then picked the perfect time to score his first goal of the season as his second-half game-winner propelled Detroit Mercy to a big 1-0 #HLMSOC road win over NKU (9/23).
• In the next game, Allos scored for the second consecutive game in the Titans' 2-2 draw against IUPUI (9/30).
 
Tews Named Under Armour® #HLMSOC Defensive Player of the Week:
Sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Tews was named Under Armour® Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week announced by the league office on Monday.
 
Tews, a native of Plymouth, Mich., picked up his second and third consecutive win in goal helping the Titans to a 2-0 mark for the week. He made three saves while holding the opponent off the board in the second half for the second consecutive game in a 2-1 win over Eastern Illinois. Tews followed that performance posting his first career shutout making a season second-best five saves helping UDM to an important 1-0 #HLMSOC road win over Northern Kentucky. Over the past two games, Tews has not allowed a goal in 160.99 total minutes.
 
McCarthy Comes Up Double-Clutch with Back-to-Back Game-Winners:
Sophomore captain Casey McCarthy picked the perfect time to score his first career goal and game-winner in the Titans' 3-2 win over CSU. In the 38th minute, the Titans cashed in off a free-kick opportunity as a long ball was sent into the box that was headed back by a CSU defender which went directly to McCarthy through traffic. He then fired a rocket from just outside the box beating Yerian to the right side giving UDM the lead for good.
 
McCarthy came up clutch once again scoring the game-winning goal as Detroit Mercy took out Eastern Illinois, 2-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Titan Field. In the 69th minute of the second half, senior Luke Winters tossed a long throw-in into the box that two EIU defenders failed to clear. Sophomore Tim Allos snuck in and hit a shot off the crossbar that deflected right to McCarthy who fired a shot off a volley into the left side of the net giving the Titans a 2-1 lead and eventual second consecutive win.
 
Tews the Recuse:
• Quinn Tews picked up his first career win in goal making three saves while keeping CSU off the board in the second half en route to the Titans' first #HLWSOC win of the season.
 
• He picked up his second straight win making three saves while holding the opponent off the board in the second half for the second consecutive game vs EIU (9/19) and made a season-high six saves at Marquette (9/1).
 
Quick Strikes:
In the two home wins over CSU and EIU, the Titans wasted little time getting on the board as they got their first tally just 1:19 minutes into the game vs the Vikings followed by a goal at the 2:01 mark against the Panthers.
 
Spradlin III Gets the Call:
Junior Robby Spradlin III saw his first career action at Marquette (9/1). He then got the call making his first career start in goal recording five saves while facing 15 total shots at No. 20 Notre Dame followed by his second consecutive start against Green Bay (Sept. 9).
 
A Long Time Coming:
Detroit Mercy finished the 2022 season with a with a five-game road swing and opened the 2023 campaign with a four-game road stretch. 332 days passed since the Titans' last home match on Oct. 12, 2022 vs Purdue Fort Wayne and the match against Green Bay on Sept. 9, 2023.
 
Road Warriors Racking up the Miles:
With the four consecutive road games at St. Mary's, San Francisco, Marquette and Notre Dame to open the 2023 season, the Titans have traveled a round trip total of 5,985 miles from Detroit, Mich.

Season Rewind:
Oct. 3 – Detroit Mercy 0 vs Bowling Green 0:
Sophomore Quinn Tews posted his second shutout of the season making three saves as Detroit Mercy played visiting Bowling Green to a 0-0 draw in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Titan Field. Detroit Mercy's (3-6-2) back line stood tall as they turned aside all six BGSU (5-3-3) corner kick set pieces.
 
Sept. 30 – Detroit Mercy 2 vs IUPUI 2:
For the second consecutive game, sophomore Tim Allos scored a goal while junior Andri Myftari scored his first career goal off a penalty kick giving Detroit Mercy a 2-1 lead late in the second half.  However, IUPUI scored a goal in the 89th minute off a free kick allowing the Jaguars to escape Titan Field with a 2-2 draw in #HLMSOC action on Homecoming Saturday afternoon.
 
Sept. 23 – Detroit Mercy 1 at Northern Kentucky 0:
Sophomore Tim Allos picked the perfect time to score his first goal of the season as his second-half game-winner off a feed from senior Saeid Jannoun propelled Detroit Mercy to a big 1-0 #HLMSOC road win over Northern Kentucky on at the NKU Soccer Stadium giving the Titans their third consecutive win.
 
Sept. 19 – Detroit Mercy 2 vs Eastern Illinois 1:
For the second consecutive game, sophomore captain Casey McCarthy came up clutch scoring the game-winning goal as Detroit Mercy took out Eastern Illinois, 2-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Titan Field. Freshman Josh Copeland posted his first career goal off the first career assist from junior Alex Diac while sophomore Tim Allos also recorded his first career assist on McCarthy's game-winner. Freshman Drew Pierson added his second helper on the season.
 
Sept. 16 – Detroit Mercy 3 vs Cleveland State 2:
Head Coach Nate Kopunek picked up his first career win as Detroit Mercy knocked off defending #HLMSOC champion Cleveland State, 3-2, behind the first career goal and game-winner by sophomore captain Casey McCarthy. Freshman Drew Pierson also scored his first career goal while sophomore Guershom Sylvain added his first goal of the season and third of his career.
 
Sophomore Quinn Tews picked up his first career win in goal making three saves while keeping CSU (1-5-1, 0-2 HL) off the board in the second half. The freshmen tandem Josh Copeland and Diego Zermeno added their first career assists on Sylvain's goal.
 
Sept. 9 – Detroit Mercy 0 vs Green Bay 2:
Freshman Drew Pierson posted a shot on goal while sophomore Guershom Sylvain added two shots as Detroit Mercy fell 2-0 to Green Bay in the #HLMSOC home opener at Titan Field.  
 
The Titans (0-5, 0-1HL) almost got on board early in the game in the 10th minute as Pierson got the ball inside the 18-yard and fired a shot to the low left side forcing Green Bay (3-1-1, 1-0 HL) goalkeeper Tobias Jahn to make a diving save.
 
Sept. 5 – Detroit Mercy 0 at No. 20 Notre Dame 1:
Junior Robby Spradlin III made his first career start in goal making five saves while facing 15 total shots as Detroit Mercy battled No. 20 Notre Dame for the entire match in a 1-0 setback on Tuesday at Alumni Field.
 
After the Fighting Irish (3-0-1) took a 1-0 lead just 18 minutes into the match, Spradlin III and the young back line consisting of sophomores Casey McCarthy and John Nino and freshmen Drew Pierson and Joey Iaquaniello held ND scoreless in the second half.
 
Sept. 1 – Detroit Mercy 0 at Marquette 6:
Sophomore Guershom Sylvain posted four shots with two on goal while freshman Diego Zermeno and Drew Pierson along with sophomore John Nino each recorded a shot on goal as Detroit Mercy fell 6-0 at Marquette on Friday night at Valley Fields.
 
Aug. 27 – Detroit Mercy 1 at San Francisco 2:
Junior and team captain Alex Diac scored his first career goal off a penalty kick just before halftime as Detroit Mercy battled but came up short at San Francisco, 2-1, at Negoesco Stadium. Sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Tews faced 14 total shots making three saves.
 
The Dons got off to a quick start taking a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the match and moved ahead 2-0 in the 12th minute. In the 40th minute, sophomore Tim Allos made a run getting behind the last defender that forced San Francisco goalkeeper Eric Waltz to come off his line. Waltz came in hard with his challenge and took out Allos resulting in a penalty kick. Diac calmly stepped up and buried the penalty kick into the back of the net beating Waltz to the lower right side to pull the Titans within a goal at 2-1.
 
Aug. 24 – Detroit Mercy 1 at St. Mary's 5:
Jannoun posted his first goal of the season off the first career assist from freshman Drew Pierson as Detroit Mercy fell 5-1 in season-opening action at St. Mary's on Thursday night at Saint Mary's Stadium.
 
In the first half, Detroit Mercy had quality scoring chances posting seven shots with three on goal but could not get on the board.
Conversely, St, Mary's capitalized on their scoring chances posting goals in the 27th, 36th, and 38th minute to take a 3-0 lead.
 
After falling behind 5-0 in the second half, Jannoun was able to slip past the last defender down the right side in the 75th minute. He then took the feed from Pierson and fired a shot to the low left side putting the Titans on the board.
