BUFFALO, NY (10/14/2023) -- University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country graduate senior
Allison Sherman pushed her name further up the Titan record books with a second-place finish and a big personal record at the Canisius Alumni Classic on Saturday.
The Titans claimed third with 103 points at the 5k race held in Delaware Park in Buffalo, New York.
Sherman clocked a time of 17:47 for runner-up honors, just 14 seconds shy of the school record 17:33 by Kim Hemstreet '03 at the 2002 Horizon League Championships. Her previous PR was 18:09 at the 2022 Live In The Lou Classic.
Junior
Evie Wright took 14th in 18:48, a PR by 50 seconds, while freshman
Helana Napiorkowski was 24th in a season-best 19:18.
Freshman
Avery Saunder lowered her season 5k time by almost two minutes to 19:46 for 35th, while freshman
Alaina Burns ran a season-best 19:54 for 42nd.
Freshman
Abby Fifield tallied a season-low 20:07 for 47th, and junior
Nina Pizzo registered a career-best for the third-straight week, taking 49th in 20:10.
Senior
Katie Anderla and sophomore
Taylor Myers also hit PR's.
UDM will now prepare for the Horizon League Championships on Oct. 28, hosted by Wright State at Fairborn Community Park.
