John Nino posted his first goal of the season and recorded his first career assist on sophomore
Guershom Sylvain's game-winning goal as Detroit Mercy rallied for a 3-1 come-from-behind win over Robert Morris on Senior Day at Titan Field on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Titans clinched a spot in the 2023 #HLMSOC Championships. Sophomore
Quinn Tews was outstanding in goal making a career-high eight saves.

RMU (4-6-5, 2-4-2 HL) opened the game with offensive pressure but Tews came up with three big saves during the first 10 minutes of the game. The Colonials finally broke through with a goal in the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead. They continued to pressure looking to increase the lead but Tews made another crucial save in the 23rd minute keeping the deficit at one goal.
Detroit Mercy (5-8-3, 4-2-2 HL) got the equalizer in the 31st minute as senior
Luke Winters tossed a long throw into the box. RMU goalkeeper Josh Lane punched the ball down in traffic where Jannoun connected on a bicycle kick which deflected off a defender right to Nino who delivered a strike tying the game at 1-1.
In the second half, Winters once again got things going with another long throw-in. This time, Sylvain headed the ball back to Nino who shot the ball but it was blocked in traffic. The ball then deflected back to Sylvain who was able to beat new RMU goalkeeper Kieran Gorgenyi giving the Titans a 2-1 lead.
Tews once against came up clutch making three more huge saves to keep the Colonials off the board preserving the one-goal advantage.
In the 88th minute, Phillips was able to maneuver through traffic in the box on the left side and get the ball past a defender over to Allos who fired in a shot for the insurance goal to seal the game for the Titans.
Detroit Mercy heads to Rochester, Mich. for a Metro Series showdown at arch-rival Oakland on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.
