DETROIT (10/28/2023) -- Graduate senior 
Allison Sherman earned her fourth career All-Horizon League honor as the University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team started the postseason at the Horizon League Championships on Saturday.
Detroit Mercy totaled 203 points for eighth in the 6k race at Fairborn Community Park. 
Sherman took seventh place in a career-best 21:28 for First Team accolades, shaving 26 seconds off her previous best. She is just the third person in school history to net four All-HL honors, while her time was the third best in school history, behind only Kim Hemstreet's 21:13 at the 2002 NCAA DI Championships and the 21:25 at the 2001 Paul Short Invitational. 
Junior 
Evie Wright set a career-best with a time of 22:48 for 31st, 13 seconds quicker than her previous 6k mark.
Sophomore 
Ayva Schmalz took over a minute off her 6k best as she was 40th in 23:06, while freshman 
Helana Napiorkowski placed 63rd in 23:50.
Senior 
Katie Anderla tallied a career time of 24:30 for 87th and junior 
Nina Pizzo clocked a career-low 24:35 for 91st. 
Detroit Mercy will now get ready for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships in two weeks, Nov. 10, at the Zimmer Championship Course in Wisconsin.
