Quinn Tews was named Under Armour® Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and sophomore midfielder/defender
John Nino was named Under Armour® Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week announced by the league office on Monday.
Nino, a native of Northville, Mich., posted three points with a goal and assist against Robert Morris. He scored his first goal of the season and recorded his first career assist on the game-winning goal to lead Detroit Mercy to a 3-1 come-from-behind win over RMU to clinch a spot in the 2023 #HLMSOC Championships.
Tews, a native of Plymouth, Mich., was outstanding in goal making a career-high eight saves in UDM's 3-1 over RMU. After allowing a goal in the 16th minute, Tews shutout the Colonials the rest of the match setting the stage for the Titans come-from-behind win over the Colonials to clinch a spot in the 2023 #HLMSOC Championships.
