DETROIT (11/2/2023) -- The stats didn't count, but the game was about something more significant as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team hosted Wayne State in the Annual City College Series on Thursday night at Calihan Hall.
The Titans fell to the Warriors, 88-78, but with 1,011 people in attendance, the game made $2,022 in ticket sales. With a matching donation from Michigan First Credit Union, over $4,000 will be donated to Detroit Public Schools, K-5. In the five-year history of the event, Detroit Mercy and Michigan First Credit Union have now teamed to raise nearly $35,000.

Jayden Stone posted 34 points and 11 rebounds to go with three steals, a block and an assist as he was 12-of-25 from the field. Graduate senior
Donovann Toatley scored 10 points, while sophomore
Marcus Tankersley had 10 points, two rebounds and two steals.
After a slow start, the Titans finished shooting 44.8% from the field and were 21-of-29 at the line.
Wayne State started the game on a 14-5 run and led 33-18 late in the first half. The Titans would cut it to 47-41 at the break and also trailed by six on a few different occasions, but were not able to get over the hump.

Oton Jankovic ended with six points and five boards.
The Titans will officially open the season on Monday, Nov. 6, as the red, white and blue head to Toledo. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
